| | I decided to try my hand at making jewelry. Everytime I went into the A.C.Moore for yarn, I found myself slowing down past the "bead" aisle and staring like a deer in headlights. This craft can be quite intimidating if you don't know what you're doing... So, I finally decided to swallow my fear and head down the aisle the other day.
I came across some beautiful beads and crystals so I picked them up (on sale no less!) and then tried to figure out what I would need to make a pair of earrings and a nice bracelet. So, I peeked through one of those "I can't believe I'm making jewelry" books and grabbed what I needed using it as a guide. I went to my library and took out a "how-to" book and hunkered down... here are the results:

This bracelet is made out of glass beads (the ones that look black are actually a cobalt blue) and in the middle are three swarovski crystal bead things (yes...I said things...I'm new at this stuff). It took me two tries to get this little stinker to work out until I realized, I had the wrong wire. Oh well, not bad for a first time effort right?
I'm quite happy with how my first pair of earrings turned out! Also made with swarovski crystals, the big stone in the middle is a dia-something... LOL! Oh I should really stick to yarn and music. Well, whatever the heck it's called, I think it turned out beautiful! Mom wore these all day long. I chose the pink hue because I bought a new shirt I that will match them perfectly...perhaps I'll wear them tomorrow...

This is a gift I've been working on for a while and at last, it is done! Huzzah! Juliette was born the day before my birthday and I was given a digital photo of her so I was able to put it in the frame along with the cross-stitch, completed! The frame I bought was stark white and clashed against the creme color in the matte so I picked up some "princess pink" acrylic paint and went to town on it last night. Now I can give it as a mother's day gift! I couldn't have asked for more perfect timing! |
